Une exposition d'art novatrice à l'Armée du Salut

Vernissage : le 5 novembre 2004, de 17 h à 20 h
Le vernissage de l'exposition aura lieu le vendredi 5 novembre et mettra en vedette le Chour Maha, groupe montréalais bien connu dirigé par Kathy Kennedy, ainsi que les WWKA (Women with Kitchen Appliances).

The opening of the exhibition on Friday, November 5 will feature performances by well-known Montréal group Chour Maha directed by Kathy Kennedy and WWKA (Women with Kitchen Appliances).

USED/GOODS, a major, innovative exhibition featuring works by 13 Montréal artists created specifically for the Salvation Army Recycling Store on rue Notre-Dame Ouest, opens Friday, November 5. An initiative of the artist group Cut Rate Collective, USED/GOODS has been organized in cooperation with the Salvation Army as a means for artists to address timely and pertinent social issues from a local perspective. In addition to the exhibition, USED/GOODS will also feature TALK SHOW, a parallel program of performances, workshops and outreach activities that focuses directly on the socioeconomic issues that surround the show.

USED/GOODS est une exposition novatrice d'envergure présentant les ouvres de 13 artistes montréalais spécialement créées pour le magasin de l'Armée du Salut, situé sur la rue Notre-Dame Ouest. L'exposition débute le 5 novembre. Une initiative du collectif d'artistes Cut Rate, USED/GOODS a été organisée en étroite collaboration avec l'Armée du Salut. Le projet donne aux artistes l'occasion d'aborder des questions actuelles d'ordre social, selon une perspective locale. Afin d'encourager la participation active du public et de sensibiliser davantage celui-ci aux questions abordées par l'exposition, USED/GOODS a élaboré une série d'activités de sensibilisation regroupées sous le volet TALK SHOW.

The artists that will be participating in this exhibition are Gisele Amantea, Joanne Balcaen, Chris Flower, Jennifer Gabrys, Diane Morin, Serge Murphy, Léopold Foulem, Lorraine Oades, Daniel Olson, César Saëz, Kim Sawchuk, Catherine Sylvain, and Mindy Yan Miller. Among those participating in TALK SHOW are nutritionist Julie Des Groseilliers, Pierre Croteau of the Salvation Army, financial consultant Isabelle Durand, and artists Barbara Todd, Ian Campbell, Hazel Meyer, and Joanne Hui.
