S’inspirant de Database Imaginary, une exposition qui explore les bases de données en tant que forme culturelle, Dot Tuer discute de la transformation que subit actuellement la représentation physique de la mémoire et des lieux par le mappage d’archives dans le cyberespace.

L’écrivaine Dot Tuer est une historienne et théoricienne de la culture dont la recherche porte principalement sur la rencontre entre la technologie et les notions de mémoire, d’identité et de postcolonialisme dans l’art et l’histoire des Amériques. Elle est l’auteure du récent recueil d’essais « Mining the Media Archive: Art, Technology, and Cultural Resistance » (YYZ Press). Ses écrits sont régulièrement publiés et elle fut invitée à maintes reprises à prononcer des conférences portant sur l’installation et sur l’art réalisé au moyen de nouvelles technologies. Elle est professeure d’histoire de l’art et d’humanités à l’Ontario College of Art and Design (Toronto) et professeure agrégée à la Faculté d’études supérieures de la York University (Toronto) et de la University of Guelph, en Ontario.

Inspired by Database Imaginary, an exhibition that explores the cultural form of the database, art historian and media theorist Dot Tuer discusses how the embodiment of memory and place is being altered by the mapping of the archive in cyberspace.

Dot Tuer is a writer, cultural historian and theorist whose research focuses on the intersection of technology, memory, identity, and post-colonialism in the art and history of the Americas. She is the author of the recently published collection of essays, Mining the Media Archive: Art, Technology, and Cultural Resistance (YYZ Press). She has published widely and lectured on new media and installation art and is Professor of Art History and Humanities at the Ontario College of Art and Design and Associate Graduate Faculty at York University and the University of Guelph.
