The Art Institute of Toronto is pleased to announce national searches for key leadership positions in its recently proposed bachelor degree programs currently under development and for faculty to teach in the proposed programs in Graphic Design, Liberal Studies, and Media Arts and Animation. These programs are subject to provincial approval ) The positions are:
Academic Director of Graphic Design Program.
Academic Director of Liberal Studies.
Director of Library.
Full and part time faculty to teach courses in graphic design, media arts and animation, communications, humanities, mathematics, natural sciences, and social sciences.
The Art Institute of Toronto has submitted a proposal to the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities for approval to offer two new programs at the bachelor degree level. These programs will prepare students for careers in the fields of Graphic Design and Media Arts and Animation by providing them with educational experiences that develop conceptual sophistication, specialized knowledge, and intellectual autonomy.
The Art Institute of Toronto, a private post secondary institution, currently offers diploma programs in animation, graphic design, and residential design. AiTO is part of the Art Institutes International, which has 33 locations throughout North America.
Art Institute programs are developed in close consultation with industry leaders and employers to provide students with a learning centred, outcomes driven curriculum that is aligned with industry requirements. Courses integrate theory and practice and provide students the opportunity to apply knowledge while they work closely with faculty.

The liberal studies component of the programs has been structured to provide students with both an introductory knowledge to the humanities, social and behavioural sciences, and mathematics and sciences and more advanced knowledge that will provide students with the opportunity to acquire an understanding of the distinctive assumptions and modes of analysis of a discipline and of the society and culture in which they live and work.
The Director of Library will lead the continued planning and development of the library to meet the needs of art and design students and faculty.
The individuals hired for these positions will lead the development and implementation of proposed programs at this new degree level. Working with the Dean of Academic Affairs and the academic team, they will have the opportunity to recruit faculty, refine the curriculum, develop policy and procedure, and continue the development of facilities and acquisition of technology.
Successful candidates will bring academic sophistication and industry experience to the position. They will thrive in an environment of continual growth and quality improvement. An MFA in field or equivalent degree is required for the Director of Graphic Design. An MLS is required for the Director of Library. Faculty are required to have advanced degrees in their field. Terminal degree is preferred.

Candidates are advised that the consent of the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities is required to offer these degree programs has not been received by the Art Institute of Toronto as the application for approval is currently under consideration and review. Candidates will also be asked to allow their resumes and applications to be reviewed by assessment and teams as part of the Art Institute of Toronto's application for approval to the proposed bachelor degree programs.
