Comment le danseur, partant de son corps empirique, soumis à toutes sortes
de modèles sensori-moteurs intériorisés, arrive-t-il à produire un corps
intensif ? C'est le travail de déstructuration et construction de ce corps
intensif qui est analysé. Il faut supposer un autre corps dans le corps - le
corps paradoxal - pour que ce processus gagne de l'intelligibilité.
José Gil est né au Mozambique, a fait ses études de Philosophie en France,
défendant une Thèse de Doctorat d'Etat sur Le corps comme champ du pouvoir.
A enseigné à l'Université de Vincennes, et a été nommé Directeur de
Programmes au Collège International de Philosophie, à Paris. Enseigne
actuellement à l'Université Nouvelle de Lisbonne, en tant que Professeur "Catedrático" et est considéré comme le philosophe le plus important au
Portugal. Il a publié plusieurs ouvrages sur l'Esthétique, sur le Corps
(notamment sur Les Monstres, et sur le corps chez Husserl), sur la Danse, et
sur la Poétique de Fernando Pessoa, dont La Corse : entre la liberté et la
terreur, Métamorphoses du corps, Fernando Pessoa ou la métaphysique des
sensations, ainsi qu'un roman intitulé La crucifiée.

How does the dancer succeed in producing an intensive body, working from the
empirical body and internalized sensori-motor schema? This talk analyzes the
work of destructuration and construction giving rise to the intensive body.
In order to understand this process, another body must be assumed ˆ a
paradoxical body.
José Gil was born in Mozambique and completed his studies in Philosophy in
France, where he defended his Thèse de Doctorat d‚État on Le corps comme
champ du pouvoir. He has taught at the Université de Vincennes, and has
served as Program Director of the Collège International de Philosophie in
Paris. He currently teaches at the New University of Lisbon, where he holds
the rank of Professor „Catedrático.‰ He is widely considered the most
important contemporary Portuguese philosopher. He has published a number of
works on aesthetics, the body (in particular on the monstrous and on the
body in Husserl), dance, and the poetry of Fernando Pessoa. Among his many
books available in English or French are Metamorphoses of the Body, La Corse : entre la liberté et la terreur, Fernando Pessoa ou la métaphysique des
sensations, as well as a novel entitle La crucifiée.
