JULIANA ESPAÑA KELLER (UK/CAN)
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR

October 27 to November 19, 2006

300m3 ArtSpace in Gothenburg, Sweden is pleased to present the work of JULIANA ESPAÑA KELLER, opening on October 27th, 2006, 18:00 - 21:00. Surveying new territory, Juliana presents landscape images transformed through a light box installation and two-channel video work evolving from a performance on the “mountain” of Parc Mont-Royal, Montreal. She views this territory as artistic social and collaborative experiments that intersect with the realms of digital photography, video, and performance.

Juliana feels strongly about working with and about society, community and the individual and the sense of the fragmentary, ambiguous and the uncertain nature of living. She is interested in notions of representation and identity by exploring ideas that are constructed around a re-examination and reconsideration of traditional portraiture and masquerade. In 2003, Juliana participated in an international residency with British artist, Gillian Wearing at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in Florida, USA and in the same year at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia, USA alongside a Wearing retrospective. Her work has been presented in international venues such as "RAW: Operation Rapid American Withdrawal" at the Ice Box Project Space, Live Arts Festival and Philly Fringe, Philadelphia, USA, "causa y efecto", Galeria Nina Menocal, Mexico City, Mexico and "Parameters of Fear", Muu Gallery in Helsinki Finland. This latest body of work presenting in Gothenburg originally entitled "curio (curious moments) was initially exhibited by her representative gallery, Galerie Art Mûr in Montreal in October of 2005. She was also a participant in the 2005 Toronto Art Fair. Juliana has an upcoming group exhibition entitled: "Gravity" in April of 2007 with Vox Populi Gallery in Philadelphia and the video installation, "culebra" was just recently presented at the VideoLAB Festival Coimbra 2006 in Portugal.
