The appointee is expected to teach and coordinate instruction in technology-based arts & design forms such as animation, digital video, multi-media production, internet-based arts, interactive art or robotics. The appointee would be required to supervise undergraduate and graduate projects for the Academy. Academic collaboration with the other focus areas of the Academy is presumed. In addition, the appointee will be responsible for initiating new subjects of visual arts, setting up and maintaining studios and computer lab, and assisting the Director of the Academy to facilitate visual arts education in the University.

The appointee is expected to have firm knowledge of art and technology, the contemporary arts and familiarity with broad art issues and trends in the field and also should have a high level of operational skills in handling and programming of digital media. Conceptual strengths, contextual sensibilities, and a multidisciplinary orientation are essential. He/She should (1) possess a Master's Degree in Fine Arts or equivalent terminal degree in the field; (2) have sophisticated skills and teaching experience in at least two of the areas mentioned above; and (3) have an international exhibition record. An established multi-media artist is preferable. Preference will be given to candidates who engage in interdisciplinary research on contemporary issues concerning visual art education and the creative industries.

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two to three years commencing 1 September 2007. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
