Le Centre SAGAMIE opère un des plus important programme d'artistes en résidence au Canada en recevant annuellement plus de 50 artistes du Québec, du Canada et de l'étranger. Ces artistes sont accueillis pour des séjours intensifs d'expérimentation et de création dans un imposant laboratoire informatique à la fine pointe des technologies : quatre imprimantes numériques grand format (largeur d'impression de 60 po.) utilisant des encres pigmentées, six postes de travail MacIntosh G4 et G5, tablettes graphiques, scanners et appareil photo-numérique haute définition, etc.
En résidence au Centre SAGAMIE, les artistes redéfinissent l'intervention numérique, développent de nouveaux langages, de nouvelles écritures artistiques apportant ainsi une contribution essentielle aux enjeux actuels de l'image ainsi qu'une reconnaissance de la pratique numérique comme moteur de recherche en art actuel et comme facteur d'éclosion multidisciplinaire.
Le centre soutient des projets de recherche qui développent une réflexion novatrice sur le médium numérique, questionnent le photographique et la picturalité ou proposent des interfaces avec différents contextes de création en art contemporain : installation, performance, interventions extérieures, art relationnel, photographie, peinture, estampe, intégration à l'architecture, pratiques hybrides, transversales ou émergentes des nouvelles générations d'artistes, etc.
Les artistes en résidence seront assistés par des techniciens chevronnés (un technicien à temps complet par artiste). Le travail infographique, les scans, l'accès aux équipements, tous les tests d'impression, la carte de membre, l'emballage et l'expédition sont gratuits. Le centre rembourse 200 $ pour les frais de déplacements et offre 200 $ d'impressions finales sur le support désiré. Au-delà de cette surface, l'artiste bénéficiera d'un tarif spécial pour l'impression numérique (demandez notre liste de prix). Le centre offre de nombreux supports d'impression : papiers et toile d'artiste, tissus (soie, cotton, georgette...), films pour boîtes lumineuses, plastique transparent, bannières auto-collantes, bannière de vinyle pour l'extérieur, tyvek, polypropilène, polyétilène...
Le Centre SAGAMIE facilite l'accès aux artistes émergents ayant une problématique de recherche prometteuse.

Digital image manipulation in contemporary art and large-format digital printing

The SAGAMIE Centre runs one of the largest artist-in-residence programs in Canada, hosting more than 50 artists each year from Quebec, the rest of Canada, and abroad. These artists stay at the Centre for intensive periods of artistic creativity and experimentation in an extraordinary computer laboratory with cutting-edge technology, including four large-format pigmented-ink digital printers (print width 60 inches), six Macintosh G4 and G5 workstations, graphics tablets, scanners, and high-definition digital photography equipment.
Artists in residence at the SAGAMIE Centre redefine digital intervention and develop new languages and forms of artistic creation, thereby making an essential contribution to contemporary debate around the image and to a recognition of digital practice as a motive force for inquiry in contemporary art and as a factor in the expansion of multidisciplinary approaches.
The centre support projects that develop new ways of thinking about digital media, inquire into photographic and pictorial issues and propose interfaces with other practices: installation, performance, outdoor interventions, relational art, photography, painting, printing, integration with architecture, the hybrid, transversal, or emerging practices of a new generation of artists, and more.
Artists in residence will be assisted by experienced technicians (one full-time technician per artist). Digital work, scans, access to the equipment, all printing tests, membership, packing, and delivery will be free of charge. As well, the Centre will reimburse the artist $200 for travel expenses and provide the equivalent of $200 for final prints on a chosen support. The artist will also benefit from a special rate for digital printing (ask for our price list). Numerous printing media are available: artist's paper and canvas, fabric (silk, cotton, georgette, etc.), backlit film for light boxes, clear film, self-adhesive banners, outdoor vinyl scrim banners, tyvek, polypropylene, polythene, and more
The SAGAMIE Centre facilitate access for emerging artists with a promising topic of artistic inquiry.
THE PROPOSAL MUST INCLUDE:
CV, artistic approach, description of your residency project
Visual documentation: small images (about 5x7" at 72 dpi) on CD; slides; or other.
A self-addressed stamped envelope if you wish the proposal to be returned
