5 programmes de films expérimentaux présentés à l’institut Goethe du 2 au 6 octobre. Chaque séance sera précédée d’une présentation par le comissaire, M. Florian Wüst

Les films sont regroupés autour des 5 thèmes suivants:

Les cinq programmes de cette série comprenant 27 courts métrages internationaux de 1926 à 1994 ont été constitués selon des thèmes précis. Sélectionnés à partir des archives des Freunde der Deutschen Kinemathek, ils présentent une synthèse exemplaire de la vision artistique et de l’engagement politique, d’approches autobiographiques et de contextes sociaux, de sensualité et de rigueur conceptuelle. Certains films opposent une résistance radicale aux conventions et aux conditions sociales lamentables, tout en étant des appels à l’action sociale et à l’autodétermination culturelle. Ils obtiennent une dimension politique dans la mesure où ils rompent avec les traditions narratives et exposent la fusion de la réalité et la fiction dans la représentation. Ce programme combine des classiques de l’avant-garde et des films expérimentaux et documentaires rarement projetés. Avec pour toile de fond de nombreux événements historiques au XXe siècle, cette série offre des perspectives variées et uniques sur le format et l’histoire des courts métrages.

Each screening will be preceded by a presentation by the curator of the program; Mr Florian Wüst

The films are grouped around the following themes:
Circumstances of Depiction
Radical Bodies
Education and Resistance
Beyond Words
Economy of the Modern

The five programs, consisting of 27 international short films from 1926 to 1994, is curated along thematic lines. Selected from the archive of the Freunde der Deutschen Kinemathek, they present an exemplary synthesis of artistic vision and political engagement, of autobiographical approaches and social contexts, of sensuousness and conceptual rigour. There are films resisting against conventions and deplorable social conditions, but which are also pleas for social action and cultural self-determination. Films that achieve their political meaning by breaking with narrative traditions and by exposing the fusion of reality and fiction. The series combines the classics of the avant-garde with rarely screened experimental and documentary films. Set against the backdrop of many outstanding moments of the 20th century, the programs open up varied and unique perspectives on the format and history of short films.

Screenings start each evening at 19h30.
