CIAM loans equipment to its members and, in certain cases, to other university departments or organizations that also support research and dissemination in new media arts. Loans are granted according the following order of priority.
Loans for Reaserchers
PRIORITY 1: Faculty members who are also CIAM Researchers may borrow equipment for varying periods of time for use in their research activities or for the dissemination of their research.
Loans for Students
Loans for projects
PRIORITY 3: Student Members whose request is supported by a CIAM Researcher may borrow equipment for periods ranging from one week to several months for use in their own research or for the dissemination of their work. Equipment loans for student projects are subject to equipment availability as per the established order of priority and will be reviewed monthly by a committee. An equipment request may not be made more than four months before the equipment will be used.
PRIORITY 5: Student Members may also borrow equipment for short periods of time to determine which equipment best suits the needs of their project or as a last resort in the case of unforeseen circumstances. The duration of courtesy loans is 10 days or less and is limited to certin types of equipment. A request of this nature may be made no more than 20 days prior to the beginning of the loan, and may be cancelled at any time should a higher priority loan request be made for the same equipment. Reservations of this nature should be made by contacting the CIAM Project Coordinator.
Loans for Organizations
PRIORITY 4: Certain organizations affiliated with the member universities (university gallery, student association or collective) may borrow CIAM equipment to facilitate the dissemination of CIAM Student Member work or research that is directly related to new media arts. A request of this nature may be made up to 60 days prior to the beginning of a loan and may be cancelled at any time should a higher priority loan request be made for the same equipment. Reservations of this nature should be made by contacting the CIAM Project Coordinator.
PRIORITY 2: CIAM equipment may be used for events and activities organized or sponsored by CIAM. Reservations of this nature should be made by contacting the CIAM Project Coordinator of the University that is hosting the event.
