Le vendredi 28 avril à la Cinémathéque québécoise, dans le cadre de la JID, la vidéodanse sera à l'honneur. Nous proposons un évènement sans précédent comprenant projection continue, performances et atelier de VJing. Pour cet évènement nous lançons un appel aux artistes désirant présenter leur vidéo-danse ou tous vidéos dont le thème, le sujet, le matériau est le mouvement. Celles-ci seront diffusées à la Cinématèque québécoise devant un public nombreux et hétéroclite tout au long de la soirée. Noter que pour des raisons pratiques, le format DVD est exigé.

Consciousness Reframed: art & consciousness in the post-biological era is an international research conference that was first convened in 1997, and is now in its 8th incarnation. It is a forum for transdisciplinary inquiry into art, technology and consciousness, drawing upon the expertise and insights of artists, architects, performers, musicians, writers, scientists, and scholars, usually from at least 20 countries.

Alicia Henry

6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Alicia Henry was born in Illinois. She received her B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and her M.F.A. from Yale University. Henry has received numerous grants, fellowships, and awards. She has had exhibitions at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, and Cheekwook Museum, among other institutions. Alicia Henry is currently working as an Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Art Department at Nashville’s Fisk University, one of the oldest and most distinguished of America’s historically Black University. A common, recurring image in Alicia Henry’s work is the human figure in isolation and the figure interacting with others. For further information please contact Selena Liss:

Brian Massumi: Going Kinetic: Moving Beyond Biopower

Brian Massumi is a writer and social critic who teaches in the Communication Department at the Université de Montréal. His current research focuses on two areas: the interrelations between the senses and the experience of space, specifically in the context of new media technology and emerging design practices, and new modes of power associated with the globalization of capitalism. In his talk, he will explore what new modes of power are implied by the shift toward the logic of preemption embraced by the Bush administration as the governing principle of its indefinitely prolongable, undeclared "war on terror."

Tanya Mars and Johanna Householder (Canada)

Tanya Mars currently teaches performance art and video at the University of Toronto at Scarborough. She was recently named artist of the year (2004), awarded by the Untitled Arts Awards sponsored by Steamwhistle Brewery in Toronto.
Johanna Householder began teaching Intermedia at the Ontario College of Art and Design in 1988, and has taught Performance Art and Contemporary Issues ever since. She writes and speaks on performance and new media whenever she gets the chance, and her work is also represented in Prêt á Porter / Take Out: Performance Recipes for Public Space, edited by Christine Redfern for La Centrale, Montréal, 2004.

Ce séminaire permettra de comprendre comment profiter des nouvelles sources de revenus offertes par les jeux en ligne et ceux destinés aux joueurs occasionnels (casual games). Ce séminaire traitera également de la distribution numérique. Plusieurs compagnies proposent maintenant aux développeurs de distribuer leurs jeux en ligne. Microsoft exploite cette possibilité avec la nouvelle Xbox 360. Des éléments de jeux (personnages, armes, niveaux, etc.) peuvent aussi être vendus séparément aux consommateurs. Profitez de ce séminaire pour être au fait de toutes ces possibilités! Le séminaire sera présenté par Monsieur Alexis Madrigal de DFC Intelligence. Située en Californie, cette firme de recherche stratégique de marché et de consultation est spécialisée en jeu et divertissement interactif. M. Madrigal est un analyste qui se consacre aux jeux en ligne et aux technologies émergentes. Ses recherches portent notamment sur les nouveaux modèles d'affaires de jeux.

Norman Kleeblatt est le conservateur beaux-arts Susan et Elihu Rose du Jewish Museum, à New York, depuis 1981. En 2002, M. Kleeblatt organisait Mirroring Evil: Nazi Imagery/Recent Art, une exposition révolutionnaire mettant en lumière l’œuvre d’un groupe international de 13 artistes qui s’approprient l’imagerie nazie en tant que commentaire sur les valeurs contemporaines.

Norman Kleeblatt has been the Jewish Museum’s Susan and Elihu Rose Curator of Fine Arts since 1981. Mr. Kleeblatt’s groundbreaking exhibition of 2002: Mirroring Evil: Nazi Imagery/Recent Art highlighted the work of 13 international artists who appropriate Nazi imagery as a commentary on contemporary values.

En collaboration avec Josh Oppenheimer, Mme Reckitt a édité Acting on AIDS: Sex, drugs and politics (Serpent's Tail, Londres, 1998). De 2002 à 2005, Reckitt vécut aux États-Unis, où elle travailla comme conservatrice à l’Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, en Géorgie.
