Dorkbot Montréal
Appel de projets / Call for projects

It is a non-for-profit worldwide organization originating from New York that aims to locally unite creative people from different backgrounds. The Gallery seeks proposals in all media from local, national and international artists and curators who offer challenging viewpoints on these issues, incorporating diverse and innovative approaches that explore the definition and boundaries of "community" and "culture." We are interested in ways that artists and curators can create a space for different readings or experiences of culture and identity, and in multidisciplinary projects that create a forum for dialogue and collaboration between diverse communities, including youth cultures and communities in transition.

Expansion of Orchestration Technique Through the Use of a Spectrally Based Computerized Orchestration Aid
May 25, 2006 at 4:30 p.m.
A computerized aid to orchestration that greatly extends the use of spectral analysis in orchestration is introduced. It is made of two parts: a bank of Fast Fourier Transforms (FFTs) accessed by a group of sub-routines designed to either perform sound analysis or propose different orchestrations that imitate the spectral energy pattern of a reference sound.

Sheila and Nicholas Pye. A Life of Errors
June 2 to July 8, 2006
Opening reception June 2 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Sheila and Nick Pye are multidisciplinary artists whose innovative work seeks to homogenize the mediums of photography, film, and video, and thus to critique and explore the boundaries of contemporary visual communication. The artists' practice is concerned with the differing and combined perceptions of the moving image and the still image in the gallery context. Interpreting similar subject matter represented in both time-based and still photographic media through their process of art-making and installation further probes these methods of visual literacy and communication. Through photographic, cinematic and performative means, the artists concentrate on the body as both a material and an object.
