The CIAM formations - summer 2006
Dès le début du mois de juillet !
Plusieurs formations sont en préparation actuellement au CIAM mais déjà des places sur des scéances d'introduction aux logiciels Max/MSP et FinalCut Pro sont disponibles pour cette semaine. En effet, dès le 4 juillet la première scéance de formation aura lieu au nouveau building EV de l'université Concordia situé au coin des rues Ste-Catherine et Guy. Hâtez-vous de vous y inscrire car les places sont limitées.
NOTE:
Il est nécessaire d'être un usager inscrit du CIAM ou un membre du CIAM pour avoir accès à ces formations.

Beginning early July !
Many formations are presently in preparation at CIAM but some places are already available on introduction sessions to Max/MSP and FinalCut Pro softwares. Yes, beginning on the 4th of July the first formation of the season will be launched at the new Concordia EV building located corner of Ste-Catherine and Guy streets. Register now as places are limited for these formations.

Appel à communications pour le second numéro

Pour sa prochaine publication, Éparts souhaite offrir une voix à la pratique artistique reconnue et émergeante dans toute sa diversité. Vous êtes invités à proposer un article qui fait état de votre démarche de chercheur et/ou d’artiste. Votre texte devra être supporté par un questionnement sur la recherche et la création en arts. Tous les articles proposés sont arbitrés par des pairs. Votre texte comporte tout au plus 4000 mots, à double interligne et il est rédigé en suivant fidèlement le protocole de rédaction ci-joint. Tous les textes doivent être accompagnés du formulaire d’inscription, d'un résumé et d’une notice biographique en français et en anglais. Les textes en anglais sont acceptés.

RAPPEL - Upgrade Montréal

Upgrade Montréal a le plaisir de présenter deux projets qui présentent la chorégraphie de corps dans l’espace en tant que mouvements de danse médiatisés sur écran. Faisant partie de LARTech (Département de danse à l’UQAM), une équipe d’artistes-chercheurs présentera son travail en cours "No body dance, un Sacre du printemps en infochorégraphie de particules pour écran 3D". Avec des détecteurs de mouvement, les gestes des danseurs sont transformés en images virtuelles où le corps cède à des particules en mouvement. Le geste, et non le corps, devient la trace de l’identité. La soirée se terminera par une table ronde entre les artistes et le public. L’évènement est gratuit et ouvert a tous et à toutes. Les portes ouvriront à 19 h et les présentations débuteront promptement à 19 h 20.

Upgrade Montréal is pleased to present two projects that translate the choreography of bodies in space into mediated dance movements on screen. From LARTech (UQAM’s Department of Dance), a collaborative team of artist-researchers will present their work in progress “No body dance: a 3-D Rite of Spring in infochoreography of particles for screen.” Using movement detectors, the dancers’ bodies are transformed into a visible expression of movement, now discernible only through particles. Gesture, not the body, becomes the marker of identity. The event will culminate with a round table discussion between the artists and public. This free event is open to all, starting at 7 PM. The presentations begin promptly at 7:20 PM.

Martin Leduc et Martin Farmer exécuteront une performance avec le Totem sonique au Festival international de jardins à Grand-Métis
8 et 9 juillet 2006
Performances à 15 h et 17 h
Leduc et Farmer interpréteront une performance avec l’instrument aquatique interactif Totem sonique, créé par Martin Leduc. À la suite des performances, les visiteurs pourront eux-mêmes toucher, explorer et faire vibrer cet instrument sonore dans un environnement unique.

Leduc and Farmer will perform using the Totem sonique, an interactive aquatic instrument created by Martin Leduc. Following the performances, visitors will be able to touch and explore this instrument themselves, making it sing in this unique environment.

SONAR at wade
Sat July 8 & Sun July 9, 2006 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sonar is a collaboration between three Montreal based artists: Ingrid Bachmann, Lorraine Oades and Ana Rewakowicz, who share similar interests in sensorial experiences of spaces through engagement and creation of ephemeral moments within a given location. Sonar consists of a giant cloud of mist as a central element to create landscape in which viewers are invited to enter. As viewers wander through the wading pool they will set off audio recording, creating a sound map that mirrors the sonic activity of the area. Sonar references a method, in which sound waves are used to discover objects underwater. It is the process of discovery that is emphasized in this installation. In Sonar we invite members of the extended Toronto community to re-experience the site through the synesthesia of different elements such as water, sound, light, and through this experience reinvest in the notion of shared public spaces.
